Grace Island’s First Step: Compassionate Action Amid Sri Lanka’s Cyclone Crisis

As we prepare to inaugurate Grace Island, the new Sri Lanka chapter of the Kolkata Society for Cultural Heritage, on 13th December 2025 in Colombo, destiny placed before us a calling far greater than a celebration.

Before our official launch, Cyclone Ditwah struck Sri Lanka between 27th–28th November 2025, leaving a trail of devastation across multiple regions. Without a moment’s hesitation, our young and spirited team stepped into the field, driven purely by humanity and compassion.

We extended relief support to nearly 800 affected families across Kaduwela, Athurugiriya, Malabe, Chilaw, Negombo, Puttalam, and Dankotuwa. Our assistance included dry rations, cooked meals, sanitary supplies, baby essentials, drinking water, clothing, and even transportation of clean water to severely impacted communities.

We collaborated with dedicated local partners CFPS Student Council, Vecno Shoes, Paddock Club, and Adyant Events and we sincerely thank them for their unwavering support in helping us reach the unreachable. We also extend our sincere thanks to our donors.

Our compassion extended to every life we encountered the team also fed over 50 stray dogs and donated the remaining pet food to a local care shelter.

Grace Island began not with an inauguration, but with service, solidarity, and humanity in action a beginning we will forever cherish with pride.
